My Fiancee and I want to pay for the rehearsal dinner ourselves and only invite the wedding party participants and their guests. His Mother wants to pay so she can invite all of her out of town family and the groom's sister, whom he is not close with at all. We have tried explaining this is not what we want. I'm not even having my daughters at the dinner and they are fine with it. Everyone is more than welcome to meet after for drinks. Is this wrong? [shocked]

Dear Bride3,

No, this is not wrong. In fact, it is responsible and logical. It is called a rehearsal dinner, not a reunion. And, more couples are paying their own way these days. So, your plans are fine.

Best wishes,
