Hi!
I am trying to find the right rules for 3 girls in my wedding. One is the neighbor's child (5 years), the other my godchildren (twins, almost 8 years). I am planning to use the neighbor's child as my train bearer and the twins as my flower girls.
But my mum and my MOH think the twins should be the train bearer (because they are older and could do a better job as the younger one, they could straighten the train better while walking ...) - and only have 1 flower girl.
Are they right? Is it better to have 2 train bearers? Is a 5 year old girl to young for this job? Is it ok to have only 1 flower girls (always thought they come in pairs)?
Thank you in advance,
Jenny

How to use 3 girls in my wedding

Dear Jenny,
While it wouldn't be incorrect to do as you originally thought, I agree with your MOH and mother. The 8 year olds are almost too old to be flower girls and would be perfect for the job of holding your train--a more difficult job. And, there really is no reason to have more than 1 flower child. All of these "positions" are optional anyway.
Best wishes,

Dear Rebecca,
Thanks for your advice. Now I decided - as suggested by you - to use the twins as my train bearer and my neigbor's child as single flower girl.
But there was one thing I hadn't reckoned with. One of the twins don't wanna be train bearer - but rather flower girl.[shocked] (the other girl is absolutely delighted to be my train bearer). I'll have a talk with her this weekend once again. Perhaps she changes her mind[angelic].
If not, what shall I do?? All other duties are arranged. And I found it funny to have so different flower girls (the 5 year old is very smal and graceful - the 8 year old is rather tall for her age).
I need your help. Thank you very much.

Jenny -
It's probably best to let her parents speak to her now. Let them know that you didn't realize the issue of her age and such and ask them to please explain to their daughter. I'm sure they can find a way to tell her what an honor it is to be selected to perform this role.
