My daughter's wedding is canceled. She has everything returned except for her dress which was put on a credit card at the shop where she had tried it on. She went to try and cancel it and they refused to do it even though she has not received it. I want to know if anyone has thoughts on how I can get this fixed. She does not want to pay for something that she would never wear. I would not want to pay for something that i would not wear. This split is very painful and she would never get married in a dress that she bought for her first time. Every time she makes a payment on this dress will be a painful reminder of what happened and it was bad so i need your help.
Thanks, Karen

I'm sorry that your daughter is having such difficulties, however there usually is something in writing regarding the exchange or refund of the purchase.
She should check her contract with the bridal shop or the return policy with the company where she made the purchase. If she has complied with the contract/refund policy she can call her credit card company to do a chargeback.
Best of luck with this,

The company where she bought the dress says that the alterations were already started. They say it has to be paid for. Is there anything else we can do??

Again, you'd have to review the contract or sales invoice to determine your legal responsibility. We're not lawyers and cannot offer legal advice. Perhaps you can speak to the shop owner and ask to make a deal of some sort.
If you can't, ask them to stop alterations and take the dress as is and try to sell it on eBay or at a consignment shop.
