Honoring 2 maids of honor

I have 2 maids of honor; one is my 14 year old sister and the other is my best friend from high school. Obviously, my best friend from high school is doing more than my sister (like planning the lingerie shower and bachelorette party). In the ceremony, how can I honor both of them? And would it be rude to have my sister stand the closest to me even though she's not helping a lot with the planning before the wedding?

Dear Imward,
I'm not sure about the "honoring them during the ceremony" question. What would you do to honor them? But, I can advise that it wouldn't be impolite to have your sister stand closest to you.
Prewedding parties are optional. It is nice that your friend wants to host these for you, but it doesn't automatically make her more important than your sister for doing so.
Best wishes,

No, it is not rude, as your sister is family. If you wish, write your best friend a special card along with her maid-of-honor gift acknowledging all the help she is giving you. They may both stand next to you, even though there is only one best man. That is not a problem. I have see it many times. When they recess from the ceremony, the best man should take the lead and stand in the middle of the aisle. Then both ladies flank him, each linking to one of his arms. If you wish to give your best friend an additional honor, ask her to do a reading during the ceremony.
