The bride's family is paying for everything. We would like to host a rehearsal dinner but budget is VERY tight. Is it still acceptable for just the wedding party and others who are rehearsing to attend? It seems that these dinners have gotten so out of control.

Hello -

This question has been answered many times in the forum so please be sure to search before posting new.

These dinners are really getting out of hand, aren't they? The rehearsal dinner is simply a courtesy to those who must attend the wedding rehearsal. So, yes, only those needing to rehearse and their spouses and close family members need to be invited. The dinner can be very informal. My wedding rehearsal took place at the home of my then MIL. It was very informal, but really nice. She brought in some catered dishes and we were all really relaxing and kicking back with a few glasses of wine, some great food and nice company.
