I have an eight-year-old son. My dad and son are walking me down the aisle. I would like him to participate more than that in the ceremony. He is well behaved and has a wonderful relationship with the groom. What more could he do?

He could do a reading (appropriate for his reading level) or participate in the Unity Candle Ceremony It's a nice way to encourage blending of family. Kids really seem to like it. if you're worried about children handling fire then there is a sand ceremony that would be nice too.

Excellent suggestions by the forum moderator!
You may also ask your officiant to bless you as a family as he stands by your side.
You may present him with a special keepsake of the day.
You may include a vow of your love and commitment to him.
These are all things that tell the child, both in words and ritual: We love you. We will always love you and include you. We are a family. You matter very much.
Blessings!
