Hi everybody! My fiancé and I will get married sometime in 2011. I am from Brazil, and will have the wedding after my visa is approved. I am from Brazil and I moving to the US, and we have a small budget for our wedding since I am a student. Is it bad if we don’t have a rehearsal dinner? I don’t know if I really want this, and plus our budget is small, and I don’t really know how much it would cost. I won’t have a bridal shower or anything like that since I don’t have any friends in the US, and I wouldn’t be able to that in Brazil, because I wouldn’t be able to carry all the presents. Only my dad, mom and 2 sisters will be there from my side. My fiancé will invite around 40 people, so there will be less than 50 people on there.

The rehearsal dinner is optional but has become a tradition. Normally the groom's family provides the rehearsal dinner. If that is not an option, consider a small dinner at a local restaurant for only the attendants at the wedding and the parents; or you could do a back yard cookout if that would work. It does not have to be anything elaborate.

I agree. It really isn't obligatory, but is a nice gesture for the attendants.
