I am getting married and my fiance and I have children. We also want my niece and nephew to be in the wedding party. It is very important to me that our children have more important positions than my niece and nephew as the wedding is more about our own little family first and then about the extended family. I want our own kids to be Maid of Honor, Bridesmaid, Best Man and Groomsman. And we were thinking we would have my niece and nephew be the flower girl and ring bearer. Is it correct to say that they are slightly lesser positions? I don't want to demean those positions, I just want to make sure our children feel very special on this day. But at the same time, I do want to share it to a degree with my niece and nephew. Please advise. Thank you very much.

Dear Rogersbaby,
You are correct about the importance of these roles. However, I would suggest that you read our many posts about the appropriate ages for these roles.
Best wishes,
