[Proper attire 4 brides sis]

I am getting married in February. It is going to be an 8pm wedding with reception to follow. I was going to decide on semi-formal attire until I saw the dress my sister insists on wearing. Now I am considering black tie optional. My sister will not be in the wedding party but her daughter will be my flower girl. Should my sister be a bit more dressed up than the rest of the guests? I find the dress she wants to wear inappropriate for an night wedding as well as being the sister of the bride who will be in wedding photos. What is your opinion on the dress and appropriate attire for her?

Plan your wedding and select the appropriate attire for your event. I wouldn't change my level of formality for one guest, even a sister. Your sister is an adult and can choose her own dress. of course, if you want to make suggestions, you can, be she won;t necessarily have to take the suggestions. I wouldn't try to control her too much.

I agree. It really doesn't matter what we think, although the dress may be a bit too informal. What really matters is that she is there and you two have a good relationship. If you want to express your opinion, please do it kindly. She shouldn't be made to feel as if she must dress in a dress you choose.
