Jacket to cover strapless wedding dress for ceremony question about covering up for the ceremony

My wedding is going to be very traditional so the dress must be modest. I purchased a beautiful pronovias wedding dress (Florinda) with a one shoulder strap and feathers. I am having it altered to be strapless but I need something to cover up my shoulders and back for the ceremony. I have seen many brides wear cropped jackets with short sleeves but I don't like the way they make the bride look big on top. Also, all the jackets I have seen are made out if shiny, silky material which I also dislike. What would you suggest I buy for the ceremony? I have seen very beautiful covers that are made out of lacy material online but I haven't been able to find any personally. Is there anything that I could buy that would go well with the tulle dress, the ceremony and the chilly weather? Hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you,
Kristina

You can speak to the same seamstress that is currently altering your dress: she can make you a top jacket to cover your shoulders. Such top can be made of beautiful lace. But before you talk to a seamstress, you have to do your homework: go to a book store, go over bridal magazines and find exactly what you envision as your top jacket for the dress. You can buy that magazine and bring it over to the seamstress to show the style. This way, she will know exactly what you are talking about, and will make you a piece.

I am not sure of your location or the date of your wedding, but if you have time, I would consider making several more visits to local bridal and special occasion shops. There are designers, like me, who offer modesty options which include choice of boleros and jackets, shawls, wraps or sleeves which can be attached to your gown depending on your level of modesty. For example, I am offering all types of modesty options which will be available this winter, including really cute lace cape-lets, jackets and sleeves. Although our retailers do not have samples of these yet, I would be happy to arrange for samples to be sent to one of our authorized retailers for you to view and try on. You would have to contact a retailer from our website which is in your area. As well, I am sure other designers would be happy to do the same thing, so if you aren't seeing something in a store, but they carry a designer who has a jacket you love--just ask! I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help get a sample for you to see.
If you are pressed for time, try calling local specialty stores in your area or even visit your local higher-end department stores which have options that may work for you as well. I recently saw a collection of really cute boleros and cape-lets in Neiman Marcus's designer section in ivory and black. They were meant for evening wear, but would work beautifully for a wedding gown as well!
Good luck and feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!
