I rushed into buying a gown for whatever reason and although it is very nice I'm not feeling it as "the one". I have thought about possible alterations but still just want to start over and find the right gown. I have already paid for the gown in full and taken it home. It can't be returned. It is still in perfect condition and sitting in its garment bag. Is there any way I can start over and get the full dollar amount back?

If the store where you purchased won't allow you to return it I don;t see how you can get back all of your money. Have you tired selling it on E-bay or in your local classified? maybe a consignment shop? None of those options will get back every dollar though.

Unfortunately, wedding gowns are a lot like cars, once they are taken off the "lot" they can't be brought back and will never give you a full return on the purchase price. Bridal shops do not typically, ever, accept returns, so you'd be out of luck at most shops. As mentioned in the previous answer, consignment, ebay, craigslist are all great options. The expected amount you can get for your dress, tops, is up near 60%, even brand-new with tags. That's a rough lesson to learn. Sorry.
