We live in the state of PA. Who gets the bridal shower gifts if the wedding is called off? My son was the groom who called of the wedding. The shower gifts are all at his house. I want to return the gifts and money to our family but the bride says it all goes to her and our family can contact her if they want their gifts back. They are also keeping the engagement ring and are now sending us a bill for 1/2 of everything that they spent. Do we have to pay them this money? What about the money our side has invested. Any help would be appreciated.

Each bridal shower gift should be returned to the person who sent it.

For the rest of the information, you should probably seek a lawyer for counsel since some states view the engagement ring as a gift in anticipation of marriage and if that marriage doesn't occur then the gift is returned. But not all judges rule that way. I'd guess that if you agreed to pay for any portion of the wedding that you need to go ahead and do that. But, again, you should contact a lawyer in your state.

I agree. No wedding, no gifts. All should be returned immediately.
