My husband and I were invited to and RSVP'd on time to a wedding for one of his employees. We attended the wedding ceremony and drove about 20 minutes to the reception. We walk up to the table where cards were available with each guest's name and table assignment. We each look through the names several times, which were in alphabetical order, only to NOT find our name! The reception hall was not very large so extra seating was probably not going to be available. There was no wedding coordinator or person available to ask what to do so we just left. I realize this is probably a rare occurrence but how awkward for us as the guests and then terrible for the couple who may end up finding out his boss had to leave because they somehow missed either getting our RSVP or assigning us a seat! I was curious if there is any proper etiquette that should be followed when assigning tables/seats to avoid something like this from happening.

How horrible for everyone involved. If the couple did not receive your RSVP they should have called you.

There is usually a banquet manager at most wedding facilities who could possibly have helped, but if it was a rental hall there may not have been.

I agree that someone should have followed up, especially since your husband is someone close to the couple. I'm sorry this happened.
