A friend is getting married and wants a lot of bridesmaids, but she's one short. The bride's brother, 12, has been called to fill in, dress, underwear, high heels, etc. He's tall and skinny, and could probably look pretty good with well done make up and wig, if he doesn't sulk through the ceremony. He's been complaining but the mom is insisting he do it. I tried to bring up the subject with the mom but got rebuffed. It looks like the brother is going to be stuck. Has anyone heard of anything like this? Is the mom nuts? Dad is apparently not going to stop it.

I am hoping this is a joke - for the kid's sake.
There is no reason to match the number of bridesmaids to groomsmen, so no such thing as one bridesmaid short. I would BEG your friend to rethink this huge embarrassment for this young man and for her. Guests WILL laugh and that mother should be ashamed of herself. I think this is child abuse - seriously. Again, I''m hoping this is some sort of joke.
DISGUSTED!

Totally agree with the forum Moderator! Your friend is making her wedding into a circus! The guests are bound to be disgusted. Try to reason with her and talk her out of it; I can't believe she's serious about this decision.

I am also hoping this is a joke as nothing about the question is acceptable. I can't imagine the type of bride that would want something like that to happen at her wedding. However, I also can't imagine the type of person who would post this question, thinking it would be funny to even post as a joke. Regardless, the answer is no, this is not okay, not in any way.

I agree!! This is child abuse in the worst way. That poor child. If, and only if, he wanted to stand on his sister's side, he would do so in the same attire as the men on the groom's side--no makeup, no wig.
Who could do this to her children?? This is not nice and not right. I sincerely hope this is a joke, but it's definitely not a funny one.

This is the most hideous thing I have ever heard and in the worst taste. This likely would scar the boy beyond repair and the guests would be most embarrassed for him. Please do not do this. Attendats can be uneven, let it that way.

Oh my goodness. I don't even know where to begin except to say that I agree with all of the previous posts! This is disgusting and should definitely be stopped.
