I hope I am not redundant in asking this question - If the pastor does not know the bride's family and he is the officiant due to the groom's family knowing him for years, does he sit at the bride's family's table or the groom's table? I would think he would sit at the bride's family's table normally, but considering they do not know him at all would it be best that he sit with the groom's family?
Thank you.

Where to seat wedding officiant

As an officiant, if it were me, I would appreciate sitting at the groom's family table where I knew folks.

I don't think there is any tradition behind where the pastor sits. Maybe this notion comes from the days when the couple always married at the church of the bride and her family? In any event, as Reverend Susanna said, seat the officiant where he/she will feel most comfortable, as you would with any guest.

I agree. He doesn't have to sit at either table. He could be mixed in with other guests or with others he knows. He also should be allowed a "date".

So if I am correct I understand that the pastor does not have to sit at either the bride's family's or the groom's family's table. Another familiar table will work as well? And yes I do know his wife is also invited.
Thank you.
Thank you.
