Hi. I have been asked to perform a wedding ceremony in North Carolina during the month of April.
It will be a mid afternoon outdoor wedding by a waterfront. I am leaning toward wearing a black
dress, with a tan jacket because of the professionalism aspect, but do not know if the black would
be appropriate attire for a wedding. It is going to be a small wedding with no bridesmaids and
the groom and best man will be wearing tan tuxedos. What do you suggest?

Unless, it's requested by the couple or based on the custom of the wedding couple, it is safe for a consultant to wear black on the wedding day. Adding another tone (like the tan) is perfect. Black slacks and a nice top is fine as well. All white is the color to stay away from.

That would certainly be appropriate. Most male officiates wear a black suit.

I agree. The black is fine.
