Do I need to give a wedding gift if I already gave one at the engagement party? I was not invited to the wedding

At Xmas I was invited to an engagement party by the brides mom. I attended and took a gift with me. The wedding was to be in Aug 2011. Since Xmas the couple have married and now I have been sent a wedding announcement. Am I obligated to send a gift to them again or was the gift at Xmas sufficient enough.

Oh my. All guests should have been invited to the wedding. This is not polite. Sorry. And, no. An announcement is not, or shouldn't be, a plea for a gift.

For the future: an engagement party is not an obligatory gift giving event.
