I am the MOG. Our son is having an outdoor wedding in July, in NC. The bride has chosen guava, (a coral like color) for her bridesmaids. They have chosen to have their groomsmen wear tan/beige. We will have 2 daughters in the wedding in guava, and three sons in tan, as well as our oldest son, the groom in tan. My husband is the officiant, so he will be wearing black. I am concerned about my color and am wondering how much it needs to coordinate for family photos. A co-worker has loaned me a gorgeous eggplant (purple, which is "my" color) color dress. Several co-workers think it will look quite good together or provide a contrast. I have a preconceived idea that I need to wear something a bit more neutral or lighter in color. The MOB is wearing champagne and the bride is not really concerned about what I choose. I have also considered a soft pink or light peach color. How important is the color coordination? Desperately needing some professional advice! Thanks so much for your advice! Cara

Color coordination is extremely important! Eggplant would be way too dark, and will look like a "stand-alone" color with the combination you have described. Taupe or peach color (the one you are also considering) would be much more appropriate for the occasion. Enjoy the wedding!

And, please remember to choose a conservative dress--not strapless.

I agree with the previous answers. Eggplant wouldn't mesh well and would definitely stand out in the pictures. I like your idea for a peachy color! That sounds beautiful!
