First, let me say thank you for such a wonderful site. My stepdaughter has asked me to sing for her wedding. I'm happy to do it but am not comfortable being a soloist, so I've enlisted the help of two friends who sing with me in a women's ensemble. They are sisters; Diane is a soloist at weddings and Kathy is like me and has no desire to be a soloist. My question is how do I compensate them? The local rate is $150 but I think Kathy would be insulted if I paid her but I have to do something for them both because I wouldn't want them thinking I was taking advantage of our friendship. In addition, the wedding is two hours away so this will be taking up most of their day. I am planning to get them a gas card for the trip. And they are so pragmatic and frugal, I can't even think of a suitable gift for them, so any suggestions would be welcome.

How To Compensate Wedding Singer Friends

I'm glad that you're finding the website helpful. We try.
If you think that just handing them an envelope with a check inside for the going rate would insult them then perhaps you can offer them a goft card for a nearby restuarant where they can have dinner near the church (if they aren;t invited to the wedding). If they are frugal I imagine they don;t go pout to dinner often so this would be a nice treat for them, along with the gas card.

I think that the relaltionship of the singers needs to be established. Will they also be guests at the wedding?
