I posted this question under budget, but I think it should go here instead....

I am trying to decide if I should book a piano player and singer for my ceremony. We currently have a bag pipe player booked. We are getting married outside in a gazebo that is in the middle of a flower garden.

They have music on a disc there that sounded ok. I thought I would check into a piano player and singer. We need something for the bridal party walking down, and 1 song. Is this worth hiring someone for $350? Or would it be ok if they played a CD with instrumental music for the bridal party and then also a song from a CD? The Bag pipe player will be playing in Front of me when I walk down the isle and also during the candle lighting. Plus before and after the ceremony.

Any advise is helpful. Would you spend the money? My fiance says it is a lot of money for 8 minutes of music, but I check everywhere and they are all within $50 of her since they have to bring in there own piano, stabilizer and speakers. Thanks for your time.

Since you have already booked your bagpipe player, and you're concerned about spending that much money for just 8 minutes, consider maximizing your funds by having a professional DJ/MC provide part of the music for both your ceremony and reception. Many provide services using digital equipment with small footprint and wireless speakers (i.e. they're not lugging around cases of CDs, so they don't take up more space than what a harp player would).

You could easily coordinate with them as to the type of music, and have everything "pre-mixed" before they arrive. You would have the comfort of knowing EXACTLY what would be played, how long, as well as the flexibility of making changes at the last minute....should you desire.

One of the many benefits of having a DJ/MC would be the utilization of their sound equipment throughout the evening, including wireless microphone for making announcements, special effect lighting for dancing outside if held at night, etc. Many supply bubble makers which would be a nice effect, especially outside around the gazebo. If held in the afternoon, the sunlight reflecting on the bubbles would be very pretty, and provide a "fairy tale" effect. We often use fog outside at night with our lighting equipment and the effect is stunning.

Sounds like your wedding is going to be beautiful. Congratulations!
