I received my wedding invitation (me + guest) and a separate invitation to the rehearsal dinner and next day brunch. I will bring my boyfriend to the wedding as my invited guest, but do I assume he is also invited to the rehearsal dinner? And since I was invited, am I obligated to attend the rehearsal dinner (thus, leaving my date at the hotel)?

Dear Help,

Usually, you would have received a separate invitation for your date, for the rehearsal dinner. To ask, might put the couple in an uncomfortable position. However, if there is some way to mention (in a polite manner) to someone in the bridal party that you will not be able to attend the rehearsal dinner because you don't feel comfortable leaving your date in a hotel room, you may find out if it was a simple omision. More than likely, the invite was for just you and you are not obligated to attend.

Welcome back and enjoy your friend's wedding.

Sincerely,
