I know that I should send the invites 6-8 weeks before the wedding, but how much time should I give my family in Ireland. They would need to book tickets, hotel and get time off work. So how far in advance should I send the invites.

Also is it tacky or helpful to send them a list of hotels in the area. Last time I was there they INSISTED we stay with them but there is no room in our home for them. I feel awful that I can't return the kindness they showed me when I was there.

Dear Out of the Country,

It would be best to send Save the Date cards as soon as possible to your Irish family and include the hotel information with them. Then you can send the invitations in the same time frame for all of your invitations.

If you choose not to send the Save the Date cards, you could send the invitations out two months in advance. The reason that this is not the best choice is that the invitations are out there for a long period of time. People tend to procrastinate given too much time. But, you shouldn't have this trouble with guests who need to make travel plans.

Best wishes,
