I received a call today telling me I had won a 3 day 2 night honeymoon to Dominican Republic or Mexico. All I have to do is attend a Pro Health Ultra cooking show. Has anyone else heard about this? I entered the contest at a bridal show. Let me know if this has happened to you. I'm really excited but I hope it's not for nothing!

First of all, a 3 day 2 night trip? Gosh, by the time you get there and are settled in it's time to fly back. Depending on where you are flying there FROM it could take longer to get there and back then the time you actually were there. If you actually "won" something there would be no strings attached. My opinion...save yourself alot of time, grief and dollars and decline.

Sorry, I know this can be disappointing.

When I was first married I received a phone call saying we won a trip (they mentioned a grocery store near our home and I assumed my husband entered). I remember being very excited until my husband told me he never entered any contest. We later discovered it was a scam. Unfortunately, you have to be very cynical about these things and make sure you really check them out.

I suppose you could call the bridal show producer and speak to them about it.

I got a similar call. After a few questions, I found I had to buy a night in a big name hotel to the tune of $350. I quickly told the poor girl who is just trying to do her job that I was not interested and hung up. I know I didn't enter a "contest" and figure my name and number were sold to this "company". I used to be a telemarketer and have sympathy for them to a degree. Just remember, if they want you to buy anything, it's just another solicitation call. Use that little gizmo that deletes your number from a telemarketers call list.

Don't go. Its a high pressure sales pitch to by cookware. It's not worth it! And if it was a real honeymoon, it wouldn't only be for 3 days 2 nights. Good luck!

My wife and I recently attended one of these seminars in Baltimore. We were really impressed with cookware, but $3000 for a few pots and pans is just too much money. It was also very passively high pressure. I check it out online and found out a few things:

1. They have horrible customer service, you will see that they do not accept returns for any reason and if you want to cancel your order, you must do it within 3 Business Days.
2. You can buy the same cook cookware in much larger sets for $200-$500. There are lots of websites and e-bay selling it. Just search for “17pc Surgical Stainless Steel Waterless Cookware Set” and you will find lots of options, there are 7 ply stainless, 7 ply stainless with aluminum in the inner layers, 5 ply stainless and set with Teflon inside.
3. Any good stainless set with a good seal on the lid will do waterless cooking. The fact that a set does waterless pretty much means that it is a really got set of professional cookware.
4. If they are giving you a trip and selling at fairs, hotels or privately cooked meals in high pressure situations, companies must charge huge mark-ups to pay for the trips, space for presentation and travel expenses for the staff.
5. They target soon to be or newly weds, because they are thinking about forever and have a windfall of money coming there way. They offer special payment plans with low monthly payments to entice you but charge 18-25% interest.

We have not tried to use our “free” trip, but will try to.
