I would like to have sunflowers for my wedding which will be taking place in April/ May 2006 as a casual outdoor wedding. I was wondering what boutineeres would make a nice compliment to the sunflower and also be able to be incorporated into my bouquet to have continuity?

Also, what do you think of cobalt blue bridesmaids dresses to go with each one carrying a single sunflower? Is this color too extreme, or would a softer color be better? Van gogh uses these color combinations often in his paintings and I think it is striking.

Thank you in advance, :)

[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]Sunflowers with Cobalt dresses will look fabulous!!!!Bouts are always a challenge in the case of sunflowers and big daisy blooms but you gave me the answer with the cobalt blue dresses....There is a beautiful electric blue delphinium called volkerfireden(or something similar to that. ) A few of those blooms and a touch of solidago.(which is a pollen free goldenrod that would pick up the yellow in the sunflowers) would be perfect. Using the blue delphinium through the church and reception to accent would tie it all up nicely. Another thing I like with Sunflowers is eel grass. Just a long wisp but it sets off the strong line nicely...Van Gogh is not a master for nothing...Go for it!!!! Happy planning....Go for it!!!!

Thank you so much for that insight. I have been scanning many different flower websites, and really could not find anything that would seem to work. I will certainly look at that and speak to my florist about that option.

One more thought, have you ever seen any kind of roses be incorporated successfully in a sunflower bouquet, or are they really too different of flowers to even try.

thank you so much :)

[:)][:)]Hi again....Hot pink spray roses would look nice...I think I would say away from red...a little too much like mustard and ketchup to put out a classy look. Smallish roses( sweethearts) are best combined with larger flowers but I think spray roses are your best option...Good luck

I am thrilled someone else has my taste. I too want sunflowers and cobalt blue dresses and am losing sleep deciding if this is too bright for a wedding. Have you found any arrangements you like or dresses in that color?

After looking at numerous bridesmaids dresses I believe that the cobal blue/ royal blue in satin can be just a bit too bright for my wedding which will be outdoors; however, the companies that offer the same color in chiffon seem to be just right.

Interesting to know there is another one there with my similar tastes. Everyone I have talked to have been very suprised by my choices, but it is my wedding and I want it the way that means most to me and my fiance.

best of luck... :)

Couldn't agree more, thanks for the chiffon suggestion, I'll look into it.
