I have 3 ringbearers and I have changed thier attire to suit their needs. Well, now I am asked to do again. Originally they were going to wear a tux but then I decided to just change it to a black suit with a white shirt and black tie. Now I am being asked to omitt the jacket. How do u think that would look? Help me please!!

Unless your wedding is very informal the boys should have jackets. Peggy Post's newest book on etiquette (published 2005) states that very young boys (*ages 3 - 6) should wear white Eton-Style jackets, shorts, white socks and shoes. This style is especially charming on boys 4 years and younger, but can accommodate a boy up to around age 6. Older boys (*ages 5-7) wear navy suits and socks, black shoes and a boutonniere. This option often lends itself to parental approval because it can be worn again – and the pants and shirt repeatedly. Unless your wedding is very informal I'd be safe and stay with the style dictated by what is considered socially acceptable. (I will say that my son was in a ring bearer in a wedding 15 years ago and they selected a tuxedo for his attire. I, of course, complied with their selection since I agreed to allow him to have the responsibility and the honor.)

If the parents are worried by the cost suggest that they either hand down the suit to a younger sibling or friend or bring it to a consignment shop or sell it online at ebay!

*age selection of a ring bearer should be based on size and maturity level of the boy as well as their age.
