I am having my wedding reception at my home. WE are trying to save money and have found that renting the tent for the area we need is quite expensive. Does anyone have any creative ideas on how to make our own homemade tent or covering. This is the area where we will have the tables for our guest.
Thank you for any ideas!

Dear Making My Own Tent,
You've discovered what so many brides discover when they think they'll have the reception at someone's home to save money. It seldom works out to be a saving because of having to rent the tent, tables, chairs, linens, etc.
BUT PLEASE stay with the professionals for a tent. Do Not sacrafice the quality installation provided by rental companies. Your guests safety and comfort should be a top consideration.

Cindy:
I agree with Nancy. Tentmaking is a huge undertaking; much more than simply draping material. Not sure what the going rate is in your area, but if you want to get creative, try mixing the party scene at Pier I Imports with beautiful fabrics. Makes for a festive ocassion and allows you to depart from the norm with elegance.
Good Luck!
