My husband and I are renewing our wedding vows this October in honor of our 10th wedding anniversary. I never got to have a really big wedding. It was a inexpensive outside wedding at my parents. I always regretted not having a bridal dress and being married in a church. I had friends who refused to come to my wedding due to the fact they felt I was making a bad spiritual decision when it came to choosing a mate. My husband and I want to have the wedding I feel I missed. We attend church now and working to have a spiritual minded marriage. We want to emphasize the spiritual closeness between us and our high power. I have a few questions. Should I forgo the unity candles since we are already married. Can we have an anniversary unity candle; is there is such a thing? I was wondering if the 2 candles could represent our past, present, and the larger candle represent our future? What dates would we put on our favors such as the napkins? I was thinking a phrase instead of a date such as "Our Journey Continues" What is considered appropriate? I am trying to purchase things each month so it will not be such a financial burden later. Do you have any suggestions?

As a Wedding Officiant/Minister, I work with many couples to create very memorable vow renewals or a enhanced wedding ceremony years later. Your Unity Candle can be used in whatever way you choose - the side candles can represent each of you and what you bring to your partnership and the center candle can represent your mission together. Get creative and make this ritual deeply meaningful to the two of you. And I like "the journey continues" on favors - very sweet! My best to you both.
