We have invited about 12 kids to our wedding, ranging in age from 4-8, and I thought we would get better attention from the parents if we could distract their kids.

i thought of setting up a table with crayons and safe scissors and maybe even a pinata. The reception (and ceremony) will be held in lodge next to a park where the kids could easily run around, but I envision nervous parents worried more about the whereabouts of their kids than enjoying the party.

Should I have something in place (arts and crafts oriented) to keep 'em close and focused?

thx darren

Dear Darren:

It it gracious of you, as host, to see to it that your guests are comfortable and having fun. However, it is not your responsibility to to ensure the safety of these children; it's the parent's job.

That being said, many couples do set up a children's table and include special activities for the kids. Some even have a seperate room and hire sitters to entertain them. All of these are options, not requirements though.

Teddy Bear Toss

Instead of including young children in the bouquet and garter toss, have a Teddy Bear Toss all their own.
