This is my first wedding but my dress is "marble" which isn't quite as dark as ivory but it is certainly not white. Should our decorations be off-white, or can they be pure white? Also, I'm getting my groom a chemise to wear, but would it be better off being darker or lighter than my dress if I can't find the same hue? I'm so confused!

My suggestion for your decorations is to combine both white and ivory. Even if the ivory isn't the exact same color as your dress that's fine, it is actually probably better. This way if you get an ivory a little darker with the same tones as "marble" they will stand out with the ivory and white combo. The combination of ivory and white is very classy and formal looking.
As for your husdand-to-be, his chemise can be either lighter or darker, but I would lean toward darker. Especially if you combine ivory and white for the decorations, his chemise will match perfectly. Even though your dress will be a little lighter by combining the darker ivory and white for the decorations and groom, everything will look very elegant.
Have fun and congratulations!
