Would it be proper to greet my deaf guests first then hearing guests? Some are saying I should put them at different tables. However, I would not feel comfortable seating them with others that don't know sign language. I think they would feel more isolated.

Do you mean greet like going table to table to thank them for coming and say hello? While I'm sure you're trying to be accommodating, wouldn't you prefer to just greet them as you work your way through the room? I would be concerned that you would be alienating your hearing guests at the same time you could be stigmatizing your deaf guests.

Now, if I'm misunderstanding what you mean by greeting, or there is a real, logistical roadblock to greeting them as you encounter them (i.e. an interpreter has to go with you, but will only be there for a certain amount of time or something) then you may need to choose.

It is best to treat your Deaf guests the same as all of your other guests. This would include seating them with those with whom they feel comfortable. So, it is best not to separate them from those who sign.
