I have read through many other posts similar to this but I wanted to clarify because it seems the rules may vary depending on time frame. My fiance and I are getting married September 26, 2025 in West Virginia where we live and he is from. I am from Wisconsin and due to the distance many of my family and friends will not be able to attend our wedding and reception in West Virginia, including my grandparents who I am very close to. We are planning on having a second reception in Wisconsin on October 24, 2025 (about one month later which is the soonest we could have the event due to my family's schedules) so my family and friends who are not able to travel for our wedding can celebrate our marriage with us. I had been planning on wearing my dress for the second reception, mostly so my grandparents and other close relatives could see me it in but after reading some of the posts I am wondering if it is improper to wear it again. In one thread I read, it seemed it was okay for a bride in a similar situation to wear her dress again a week later but a second thread said it was improper to wear the dress again for a second reception that was closer to a year later. What is the window of time during which it would be appropriate to wear my dress again for a second reception if any? We were also thinking of having some pictures from the ceremony displayed at the second reception. Would that be inappropriate to do if I do wear my dress again? The reason there are conflicting opinions is because there is no clear time frame. To wear your wedding dress months after a wedding may appear odd to your guests as you have been married for some time by then. And, yet it may seem sweet a week after the wedding. Some guests may want to see you in it and some may balk and snicker. So, since you are hosting your second reception so close to the date of your wedding, it may seem appropriate to wear it. But, it is your choice. If you feel that your guests may find it odd, then you might want to opt for a cocktail dress.
